PARIS and 24 hours of inspiration condensed! No time for jetlag.
1. UPCYCLING taken to the next level. Rue Rangoli was nothing short of not only jaw dropping art items but the owner was incredibly friendly and delightful. She sources items from artisans all over the world.The showstopper for me was a pair of chairs embellished with upcycled potato chip bags. One is from the inside of the bags, the other from the outside, thus a touch of color. Woven loops (LOTS of them!) that I need to learn more about.
The origins, inspirations, how many bags?? And more. !00% going back to chat with the owner when I return to Paris after the 2 week artist residency. Only a few steps away from where I will be staying again. She also has sheets of newspaper from India with traditional block prints. Look for bits of this in upcoming collages! And the chairs sparked a quirky idea I’ve had for quite a while. Too much to explain and you’d either shake your
head or roll your eyes. Just stay tuned.
2. Le Bon Marche will leave anyone speechless and BROKE?! Ha! Still absorbing ideas photographed and gawked over there from books to clothes to purses to art scarves…too much to list. Think Bergdorfs and Harrods on equal doses of steroids.
3. The foodie in me feasted with my eyes only at La Grande Epicurie. Painting material galore photographed and documented , then off to a wonderful cafe down the street for escargot & wine. Great way to escape the rain!
4. Lastly, a shout out of recommendation to Hotel & Spa La Belle Juliette, in the 6th arrondissement. Decor, location, spa and staff were all TOP notch. Thank you @gigidavisstudios for the tip!
