Shifting to abstraction is an ongoing process through which I continue to develop my own distinct voice on canvas. While elements of draftsmanship remain, I explore a broader range of imagery, emotion, fluid ideas, and expressive paint application—a technique that invites discovery for both myself as the painter and for the viewer. Many of the abstract painters I admire began with realism before moving toward abstraction, and I honor that same foundation. My approach is intentional and calculated, yet open to risk and exploration, especially in my large-scale works where I aim to push boundaries and expand visual possibilities.
