BONJOUR BLOG number one! If you haven’t read the previous blog about my upcoming trip to France & my artist residency at Chateau Orquevaux, I’d say go read it first so this will make sense.
My intention and goal is to post regularly (hopefully daily) on Instagram @amydixonfineart: Pictures, experiences, observations, paintings, the people and of course FOOD and much more. Inspiration awaits and my anticipation is elevated to say the least... All the things that make up my F.A.I.T.H.
Challenge one! Packing art supplies! With a studio laden with so many different paints, glazes, tools and quirky materials, making decisions is a bit daunting. Ralph is no help! There's a small Art Shop close to the chateau but I wanted to insure I had the basics of supplies to start. Enter Amazon France! Who knew? No me! Thank you Peggy for this brilliant suggestion! Voila! Supplies are delivered & only a carry on sized bag is being checked on the plane.

Paying attention relates to me as a keen awareness. Sometimes ideas are easy to recognize…think a beautiful sunset or a peony. While this is obvious, as I prepare for my 2-week artist residency one of my intentions is to be aware & pay attention to random, perhaps petite spots of inspiration. Considering a snippet of the whole and pushing myself outside of my comfort zone, because why not?
Freedom to challenge myself to push to new approaches may have successes or failures. All of the random thoughts I jot down and never pursue. “Stick it note Queen” I am and I know there are many of you out there that relate!! Maybe 2 weeks in France will spawn creative experiments in various forms. Including:
Interiors, large and small, vignettes of interiors, limited pallets using only neutrals, only shades of green, only shades of blues, ochres, grays or monochrome.
